| Hi there, my name is Sunny and I'm from Guyana (Formerly
British Guiana). I'm currently living in São Paulo, Brazil, where I work
as an English Teacher. I'm thirty-three years old and have been working as
an English Teacher for more than eight years. I teach from High School
students to Executives.
I normally use the Callan Method to teach with. It is an easy method to work with, and requires absolutely no homework from students. It consists of about 90 percent conversation and the rest is made up of reading lessons and dictations. In the classroom students do not have to listen to tapes and take notes from the chalkboard. With the Callan Method students are totally focused on the question-answer work that goes on during the whole class. It is very seldom where a student loses his/her concentration during the class as there is much going on - interactively, I should say - thus leaving no time at all to think about something else other than what is being said in the classroom. I also have several students who prefer to have only free conversational classes. These students want to exercise the English they have already learnt. With free conversational classes, I also introduce things like Phrasal Verbs (very common ones), Idioms, Slangs, and so on. I normally correct students' pronunciation instantly so they can know what the right thing is and how to say it.
